On July 15, Bayern Innovativ, together with its cooperation partners, is hosting the MedtecSUMMIT in Focus in Erlangen. On this day, experts and innovators will come together to shape the future of medical technology through collaboration and groundbreaking ideas. We are also happy to be part of this exchange and to present our innovative patient monitoring solution.
Smart sensors and implants – innovations at the interface between humans and technology
The MedtecSUMMIT is organized on behalf of the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs and in cooperation with Medical Valley EMN e.V. and Fraunhofer IIS. In the series “MedtecSUMMIT in Focus”, the Bayern Innovativ health innovation network regularly brings together experts from business, science and medical practice for full-day events. The third edition is dedicated to the topic of “Smart Sensors and Implants – Innovations at the Interface Between Humans and Technology”. The aim is to present new technologies, promote the exchange of ideas and create the basis for forward-looking collaborations. The event is aimed at experts, innovators and decision-makers who want to actively participate in the further development of medical technology.
Rethinking patient monitoring
Dr. Michael Weber, Research & Data Science Lead at cosinuss°, will present our innovative vital sign monitoring solution in his lecture “Rethinking patient monitoring. Universal access to vital data.”. He will provide insights into the previous results of the joint research project HEAR-MOTION with the Landshut University of Applied Sciences (HAW). The aim of the cooperation is to develop an earable that reliably measures vital signs in the ear – even during movement and other disruptive influences. The ear canal offers ideal conditions for this: Thanks to the constant and stable blood flow, vital data can often be recorded more accurately and reliably there than in other parts of the body. This technology opens up new possibilities for medical technology and provides an important impetus for its further development.
The cosinuss° vital sign solution is already being used successfully in various areas – such as mountain, air and special rescue, tactical medicine, as well as postoperative and remote monitoring of patients.

The event is commissioned by the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy. The cooperation partners are Medical Valley EMN e.V. and Fraunhofer IIS. Medical Valley EMN e. V. is a leading international cluster in the healthcare industry, in which highly specialized research institutions, leading international companies and many emerging companies are active. The Fraunhofer IIS develops basic technologies and systems for localization, identification and wireless process data communication, as well as data analytics and machine learning.
