Heart rate is the number of heart beats per time. The usual unit for this is beats pe minute (bpm).

In a healthy person, the heart rate at rest is about 50 to 100 beats per minute. The maximum heart rate indicates how many beats per minute can be achieved with maximum physical effort. The maximum heart rate is individual and can be measured using performance diagnostics.

The sensors in our devices make use of an optical measuring method. The measuring principle is similar to the finger clip sensors used in hospitals. The PPG signal, short for photoplethysmographic signal, is derived using this optical measurement technology. The heart rate can then be determined from the PPG signal.

The figure shows a heart rate measurement with the °One (shown in blue) compared to a clinical ECG (shown in red). Due to the very high agreement between the heart rate of the °One and the ECG, the red readings of the ECG device are hardly visible behind the blue values of the °One.

For all important parameters, extensive studies are carried out in cooperation with renowned partners and are statistically evaluated. Medically approved standard measuring instruments are used as a reference.
