From 18th to 20th May the ISMM\/BMMS XIV World Congress on Mountain Medicine will bring together the world\u2019s leading mountain medicine experts under one roof, offering cutting-edge research and practical learning opportunities. The Congress will take place in Hathersage, located in the heart of the UK\u2019s Peak District. We are very excited to be part of this special and action-packed event, not only as an exhibitor, but also with the opportunity to introduce our ultralight patient monitoring solution to participants through workshops.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Safety And Success In The Mountains<\/h2><\/div>

The Congress aims to enhance the knowledge, skills, and experience of its participants. This will be achieved through a combination of plenary and parallel sessions. The plenary sessions will bring all attendees together and will take place at the beginning and end of each day. The event offers three action-packed days filled with scientific presentations, academic special interest sessions, and practical hands-on workshops. Healthcare professionals and mountain medicine specialists from around the world will come together for this unique event.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Ultralight and mobile patient monitoring in challenging environments<\/h2><\/div>

At the accompanying exhibition, we will showcase our ultralight and mobile patient monitoring solution. It is based on the c-med\u00b0 alpha in-ear sensor, which weighs only 8.6 g, and the cosinuss\u00b0 Health mobile application. This solution enables the monitoring of three key vital parameters – SpO2, body temperature, and pulse rate – as well as the PPG curve, perfusion, and quality indices. Our monitoring technology has already proven itself in air and mountain rescue, prolonged field care, special forces operations, offshore environments, and various remote monitoring projects (see references<\/a>).<\/p>\n

In addition, our technology will be integrated into the following workshop sessions:<\/p>\n

Workshop session (Day 3, 11:00\u201313:00): AVALANCHE AND HYPOTHERMIA<\/strong>
\nHear from an international panel on how avalanche victims should be managed – from the mountainside to the medical ward. Jamie MacDonald and Beat Walpoth will present on \u201cUsability of vital signs and temperature monitoring in hypothermic arrest and in the field.\u201d<\/p>\n

Outdoor workshop session (each day): OUT ON THE HILL<\/strong>
\nThis session is as practical and hands-on as it gets. Experts from around the world will demonstrate the latest medical equipment used in mountain environments. The sessions include realistic scenarios on one of the Peak District\u2019s most iconic summits, Win Hill. Led by Tim Sanders and Nick Wright.<\/p>\n

We look forward to presenting the diverse range of applications of our technology – especially in challenging mountain environments – and to discussing exciting perspectives and use cases with participants.<\/p>\n<\/div>

The International Society for Mountain Medicine (ISMM) and the British Mountain Medicine Society (BMMS) jointly organize the XIV World Congress on Mountain Medicine.<\/p>\n

The ISMM is an international organization that connects physicians, scientists, and allied professionals to promote the generation and global dissemination of knowledge in mountain medicine. The BMMS brings together healthcare providers and mountain professionals with the shared goal of improving safety and success in mountain environments.<\/p>\n

The Congress will also feature contributions from experts across various fields, including mountaineering and rescue. On the final day, representatives from the International Hypothermia Registry (IHR) and the International Commission for Alpine Rescue (ICAR MedCom) will host the biannual International Hypothermia Day.<\/p>\n<\/div>
