The International Commission for Alpine Rescue (ICAR) Congress will take place this year from October 7 to 12 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, USA, and serves as a central platform for experts and stakeholders in the field of mountain rescue. Representatives from a wide range of rescue organizations are expected to attend, including medical professionals, emergency responders, researchers, mountain guides, and decision-makers from around the world. We are delighted to be part of this congress again this year to present the advancements of our ultralight and mobile patient monitoring technology to participants.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Alpine rescue in focus: exchange, innovation, and training at the ICAR Congress<\/h2><\/div>

Every year, millions of people are drawn to the mountains, whether for leisure, sport, or research purposes. This also increases the risk of emergencies in difficult terrain worldwide. Avalanches, altitude sickness, falls, or extreme weather conditions often make rescue operations a major challenge, not only for those affected, but also for the emergency services.
\nThis is exactly the framework set for the ICAR Congress which brings together experts from all over the world to share the latest findings, learn from each other in a practical way, and strengthen international cooperation in order to excel in mountain rescue. Organized in a diverse program of workshops, training sessions, and realistic simulations, the congress provides a forum for the exchange of innovations, best practices, and international guidelines in the field of alpine rescue. Another highlight is the accompanying industry exhibition, which brings together industry and participants and creates valuable networking opportunities.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Ultralight & mobile patient monitoring \u2013 proven in alpine terrain<\/h2><\/div>

We are delighted to present the advancements in our mobile patient monitoring system to participants at the ICAR 2025 Congress. The solution is based on the c-med\u00b0 alpha in-ear sensor, which weighs just 8.6 g, and the cosinuss\u00b0 Health mobile application. The solution can be used to reliably monitor three important vital parameters – SpO2, body temperature, and pulse rate – as well as the PPG curve, perfusion and quality indices at any time. Our monitoring technology has already proven its practicality many times over in the fields of air and mountain rescue, prolonged field care, special forces, offshore operations, and various remote monitoring projects (see references<\/a>). We look forward to presenting the wide applicability of our technology, especially in challenging environments, and discussing exciting perspectives and application scenarios with participants.<\/p>\n<\/div>

The International Commission for Alpine Rescue (ICAR) aims to promote the global exchange of knowledge, expertise, and best practices in mountain rescue. With 123 member organizations in 41 countries, ICAR provides a platform for continuously improving the safety and effectiveness of rescue operations. Central to the exchange and further development of mountain rescue is the annual ICAR Congress, supplemented by joint research projects and international cooperation.
\nTeton County Search & Rescue (TCSAR) was founded in 1993 by the Teton County Sheriff’s Department to provide vital search and rescue services for the region around the clock. Supported by the TCSAR Foundation and private donations, volunteers are provided with training, safety equipment, meals, and mental and physical care to protect residents and visitors in the backcountry at all times.<\/p>\n<\/div>
